Mount Mat 100 is designed for typical catalytic converter applications including close-coupled converters, manifold-mounted converters, underbody converters (gasoline, diesel and ethanol flex fuel), endcone insulation for internally insulated converter designs.

Mount Mat 100 as kind of vermiculite, intumescent, catalytic converter support mat based on a small amout of refractory ceramic fiber and large amout of expanding vermiculite with high peak holding force is designed to function as mechanical support for the ceramic substrate and act as an exhaust gas seal while providing thermal insulation.


Mount Mat 100 offers improved cold holding performance at substrate skin temperature below 300°C, while maintaining excellent thermal stability with a continuous-use temperature of 750°C average mat temperature. Expansion pressure is provided by vermiculite trapped in structural support matrix of refractory ceramic fiber. Mount Mat 100 mat expands with increasing relative thickness when first exposed to temperatures in excess of 325°C.

Mount Mat 550 with a nominal gap density (GBD) of 0.80 g/cm3, actual canning GBD for each specific application will be defined according to detailed requirements for holding force and substrate strength.
Mount Mat 550 also offers superior erosion resistance without the need for wire mesh ring protection (for erosion) or heat treatment for additional holding force at low temperatures.
