Mount Mat 550 is kind of vermiculite, intumescent, automative catalytic converter support mat made from moderate refractory ceramic fiber, moderate vermiculite with reduced peak holding force, overall reduced bulk density and improved low-temperature performance is designed to function as a mechanical support and exhaust gas seal for thin wall ceramic substrates.


Mount Mat 550 offers improved cold holding performance at substrate skin temperature below 300°C, while maintaining excellent high temperature thermal stability with a continuous use temperature above 950°C average mat temperature. Mount Mat 550 expands with increasing relative thickness when first exposed to temperatures in excess of 325°C.
Mount Mat 550 offers excellent erosion resistance and is not affected by gasoline, diesel, water or urea condensates, making it ideal for a wide range of exhaust aftertreatment systems including low temperatures under body converters or flex-fuel systems. Mount Mat 550 also offers improved holding force at low temperatures as well as superior erosion resistance without the need for wire mesh ring protection (for erosion) or heat treatment for additional holding force at low temperatures.
